You can love the man or you can hate the man but the fact is Donald Trump, is showing the entire world what real marketing is all about. Its not about list sizes. Its about commanding control, taking control, and controlling the community that surrounds you.

Donald Trump is a brilliant marketer. You can think him anything else you wish. You can call him a failed businessman if you really want, but still his ability to market himself is bar none on top of the world. Donald Trump has controlled the media globally for nearly two years and it doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.

It does matter what nation or media outlet you are looking at, they have articles about trump. Everywhere from the science communities to bloggers to the mainstream media, Donald Trump is being talked about everywhere.

These headlines all range from a couple minutes old to a couple hours old. The point, Donald Trump is absolutely controlling the audience. It doesn’t matter if you love him or hate him as long as you are talking about him.

So how does all this Trump Talk relate to marketing? Well its exactly what we have been talking about the last week or so. Marketing is not about list building and SEO, its about creating an audience, and controlling that audience.

By controlling an audience, you become and instant authority on a topic. Now just as is true with Donald Trump, the more success you have and the larger your audience becomes, the more will also insist you are clueless and not an authority. It doesn’t matter. That happens with success.

What is important is that when you control an audience and take command of it, just like we can see with Donald Trump, although you will have haters, you will also have die hard loyal followings and fans. You will find a group of people starts to build around you and what you do.

Those people who surround you are the people who will bring you success.

The truth is you are probably thinking “yeah but Donald Trump already had a huge following”. You wouldn’t be wrong in that thought. However it all begins somewhere.

Join all the social networks you can find. Create groups and communities everywhere. The more communities you build, the larger your audience. The larger your audience the more people will look up to you as an authority of your topic and industry. With that comes success.

It doesn’t matter how you feel about Donald Trump, the fact is the man is a very good marketer and everyone in business could learn a thing or two from him about controlling the audience.
